12 Penshurst was a conservation project in part whereby much of the original structure of the 57-year old house was retained.
Architectural elements such as window arches, masonry work and timber trusses have been preserved; adaptive re-use include floral-motif window grilles that were converted into balcony railing.
The home was given new life with the introduction of natural light through a skylight, an interior courtyard and full height glass doors. An extension at the rear created additional space, generating greater value for the owners. The old co-exists harmoniously with the new, giving greater depth of meaning and 'soul' to this abode.
